Day 2

We were off to an awesome start this morning. Daxon woke up DRY, after just one day of potty training! I thought to myself, "wow it has finally clicked." Ummm no! Probably because I wouldn't let him have anything after 7 pm last night, but either way he was dry!!!! I can tell he is getting quite ticked at me throughout this process. I know he is sick and tired of changing his underwear and listening to me say "Daxon, tell mommy when you have to pee pee." I think by about noon he was on his fourth pair of underwear! I told him we may not be friends today and sadly said "okay." lol! I have cleaned up three fairly large puddles of pee and mopped the wood floors three times already today and it is only 2:30. Here is what our day 2 consisted of:
7:30am woke up dry!!!
8:15am peed in the potty
8:45am HUGE accident
10:00am peed in the potty
10:50am accident
11:00am accident
11:20am peed in the potty
11:30am lunch
12:50pm accident
1:00pm peed in the potty
1:05pm down for a nap
3:00pm woke up dry!!!
4:00pm accident
5:40pm accident
7:00pm peed in the potty
9:30pm bedtime
now as you can see this is not going so well. The manual said day 2 could possibly be worse than day 1. it wasn't worse, but it wasn't very good. So onto new beginnings tomorrow (fingers crossed). If only he would just tell me when he had to go...........

Bye Bye Diapers

So it is now the middle of October and Daxon is 4 months away from turning 3. I think it is time to say bye bye to diapers. Before I tell you about our new adventure, let me go back to the blog I wrote in February.

We bought a small, very expensive potty chair for Daxon to "look"at in the bathroom. I knew he was nowhere near ready to potty train, but thought maybe if he saw it in the bathroom everyday he might get interested. Boy was I wrong!!! He was terrified of it! You would have thought it bit him or something! All summer long I pushed him to use it and of course it did not work. He would pee in the big potty every once in awhile after i would bribe him. All my friends said "use candy, my kid goes for that". Well if you know Daxon, then you know he does not like sweets. So i quickly thought of stickers. He loves stickers! Score it worked!!! So for the last month or so we have been peeing in the potty for stickers about once or twice a day!

Okay now I need a fool proof plan to get this kid potty trained! What will I do? I talked to several friends of toddlers and got lots of tips, but none of them were working. Was Daxon just not ready? Is Daxon slower than other kids? Is he going to be 5 and still in diapers? All legitimate questions going through my head. I needed something to work and to work well.

A few weeks ago I saw a guy I used to work with. He had his toddler with him and as I was talking to them I realized his son did not have on a diaper. I knew this kid was 5 months younger than Daxon. What was their secret? So without thinking, i blurt out, "OMG is he potty trained?" He said, "yep and it was so easy!" Easy? Yeah right! Okay tell me your secret. I assumed he would say the whole candy bit or sticker thing or peeing on cheerios, but nope he had a whole different idea. Wanna know what it is?

This magic idea is called the "3 Day Potty Train"! Yep that's right you heard me, just three days and your kid is potty trained! I asked the guy where he got this and he said his wife ordered the manual over the internet and it had a 98% success record. Sounds good to me! I told him to send it my way. I received it last week and sat down and read it. This woman, the author, is a genius! Everything she said made so much sense. She is the mother of 5 boys and they were all potty trained by 28 months old! I can do this!

For three days straight, you CANNOT leave your house. You are to start out with 30 pairs of underwear. Now i thought 30 was a little ridiculous but once again I was proven wrong. (I will elaborate on this shortly). You are suppose to put you kid in underwear and a t shirt and nothing else for three days straight. Next you throw away all the diapers in the house and let your kid help. Surprisingly Daxon thought this was fun! Next and last step, tell your kid 200 times a day "let mommy know if you have to pee pee". Sounds easy right? Just three simple steps. Here is how our day 1 went:

9am Throw all diapers away and put underwear on

10am accident

11am accident

11:30am lunch

12:00pm peed in potty for sticker

12:15pm nap

1:30pm up from nap and peed in potty

1:50pm peed in potty for sticker

2:25pm accident

2:40pm accident

2:45pm accident

2:55pm accident

3:50pm accident

4:10pm peed in potty for sticker

4:50pm accident

5:05pm accident

5:40pm accident

5:50pm peed in potty for sticker

6:30pm accident

7:00pm peed in potty for sticker

8:00pm peed in potty

9:00pm BEDTIME!

Please wish me luck and send some patience my way for day 2!

Fall, Football &Fun

Okay it is September 1st and its hotter than a you know what!!! This weather is ridiculous in my opinion! It's pretty sad when your two year old doesn't even want to go outside and play. Anyway, I was thinking yesterday if I put out all my fall decor, maybe just maybe, it will cool off! I saw the 7 day forecast and was relieved, ecstatic, and thrilled at the temps for next week!! Its going to be in the mid 80's all week! Finally some relief, I may not melt after all!! I guess i will wait until the end of the month to put my stuff out!

This year like every year for the last 10, I will be working at a little place called Eskimo Joe's during OSU's home games. Ever heard of it? I will be slinging drinks outside for everyone wearing orange! Since I don't have a job, this is alot of fun for me to have some adult time!! Daxon will get to spend some time with grandparents while I am at work. Well alot of time actually. These game days can easily turn into 16 hour days! UGH, am I ready for this? I think I can, I think I can! GO POKES!!!!

Potty Training

I know very little of this subject, only that a) girls train faster than boys and b) kids with older siblings are faster learners. I have neither! Just a little boy who is scared of the potty! Where do I start? Why won't he just sit on the $40 potty chair i bought him? Why is it fun for him to watch Jeremy go, (and make bubbles) but not fun for him? For my own sanity I sure hope these questions gain answers quickly!!!

So I went everywhere in OKC today in search of those thick training underwear my mom keeps talking about, and had no luck. You know the ones that we wore 30 years ago? Apparently they have discontinued those (or so I thought) and are now making Pull-ups. I hate the concept of Pull-ups. It's a diaper! If a kid has on a 'diaper', they are going to pee in it. period. Everyone says well it is easier for them to pull them on and off. B.S. If they are able to pull down their Pull-up, then they can certainly undo a diaper!!! Besides, have you seen the price of Pull-ups? geesh!!!!Anyway back to the thick training underwear. I finally found some an Amazon.com after hours of searching and ordered them!! Why am I thinking these are going to so magic? They look magical, don't they?

Turning 30!

So I am turing 30 in one month from today. I really don't know how to feel about this. Once a person is out of their 20's they are no longer young. I can't say "I am in my 20's" and feel good about it anymore. That dreaded day is creeping up on me! I found these statistics for people turning 30 and thought they were funny.

  1. The average person has had 7.5 jobs, and you'll have 2.4 more by age 35.

  2. At age 30, you're older than 42 percent of Americans.

  3. You're 26 percent less likely to make a New Year's resolution in your 30s... but if you do make one, you're 26 percent more likely to stick to it.

  4. You're 26 percent less likely to make a New Year's resolution in your 30s... but if you do make one, you're 26 percent more likely to stick to it.

  5. 0.036 percent of people are in elementary school at age 30.

  6. One out of 33 men and one out of 25 women are virgins at age 30.

  7. 81 percent of women and 71 percent of men have been married by age 30 (and 16 percent of each have been divorced).

  8. The most common way to die at age 30 is by accident.

  9. 30 is the average age of retirement for NFL players.

  10. The odds you'll make it to your late 30s are 99,003 out of 100,000, or 99.003 percent.

Well it looks like maybe my 30's won't be too bad. I will just have to embrace this new decade of my life and jump in!! I will update you the actual day of my bday and let you know if I feel the same!!!

Daxon is 2!

Last Saturday my little man turned 2 at 9:45am! i cannot believe he is already 2! where has the time gone? what happened to my cuddly little baby? It literally feels like just 6 months ago when i brought him home from the hospital.

We had two birthday parties in Stillwater last weekend. Saturday night we had a BBQ at my parent's house for all the fam. He had a shared party with his cousin Konner who turned 2 two weeks prior. He got so much stuff. It was like Christmas all over again. He was having a blast! When people were asking me what he was "into", i said Toy Story and dinosaurs. All of his gifts were just that!!! The second party was at Eskimo Joes on sunday morning. Daxon loves Buff Buff and Joe! We sat in the new part and partied hard for an hour. Joe and Buffy surprised Daxon with a gift and a hug. He was so excited! I was just so thankful he was in a good mood and wasn't sick. For those of you who don't know, Daxon puked an hour before his 1st birthday party and we had to cancel! Although that was a year ago, i was still nervous he would do this again. He didn't! He was in a great mood and we had a great time. Thank you to all who came and made his 2nd birthday so special!!!

Hide and Seek

okay this post isn't necessarily for others to read, but more of a motivational writing to myself. Please feel free to read though!! For the record, I have never said I was fat, just a little fluffy. I have been playing hide and seek with my pre pregnancy body now for about a year. It sucks! Daxon will be two next week and its not back yet. I told myself to give it a year, which in my opinion is playing it very safe!! It should not take a year. sigh. well it did. The week he turned one I hit it!!! Pre preggo weight that it is!! Now most of you are thinking, oh come on you hit the weight, you are done!! not so. Your body changes soooo much during pregnancy and although you weigh what you did before the bump appeared, things just aren't in the same places they used to be. Know what I mean? For those of you who have had children, you know what I am talking about. C-sections are not flattering to the figure! That flap as I call it is always going to be there, no more flat stomach. Its gone. Its never coming back. So get over it! Well i am trying and its hard.
Yes I want another baby eventually but I have got to get back in shape first or i will be in for a real shock! I am trying. I run/walk about 10 miles a week. I try to go when Daxon is at school, which is only twice a week. I have to wait until Jeremy gets a day off to run for the third time in a week. Three times a week is enough, right? i sure hope so! Its almost a little embarrassing taking about my measly 10 miles a week when several of my fellow bloggers are running marathons! Which by the way I am so proud of you all! What a fantastic accomplishment!! I hope to one day do the same!
Must keep moving!!!!

Heat Wave!

After 5 days of gloomy, snowy, cold weather, the sun is shining!! This has totally turned my mood around. After breakfast this morning we got suited up and went outside to do some sledding. We actually got hot!! I started my car to check the temperature and it said 42!! 42, can you believe it after all the single digit days!!?? This feels like a heat wave!! I started peeling layers off of me until i was down to just one shirt and one pair of pants. It felt great outside!!! We played for about 30 minutes or until Daxon's hands got wet. Thank you God for the sun today, it was just what we needed! Now bring on the next snow storm!!!

Snowklahoma!

Yes Amanda, I stole your blog title! I had to, it is too perfect! I rode out the storm in Stillwater at my parents house this week and came home to this. There is about a foot of snow on the ground and 3 to 4 feet snow drifts all around the house. I cannot remember snow this deep or temperatures this dang cold!! It is unbelieveable that we are supposed to get even more snow this week. I need sunshine so bad. I have gained 5 pounds in a week. When its this cold, its FUN to cook! and eat for that matter!

we decided to park my Jeep up on the road so that it wouldn't get stuck in the driveway that slopes towards our house. This sounded smart at the time, but now when we try to move it it just slides down the hill. UGH!!!!!
at least I didn't BURY my jeep in the snow like Jeremy did his! Check this out!!!

Free Zoo

I normally don't do 2 posts a day, let's face it, I hardly ever blog, but this I need to share today! Since it was so nice yesterday, 75 in January, we went out to what we call the Free Zoo! The Free Zoo is actually my dad's friends house. He has a house out in the country and him and his girlfriend have an exotic animal farm (zoo). They have no children, so they can devote all of their free time to these unique animals! Here is a list of what they have.......

  • Zebra

  • Miniature Cattle

  • 2 Lemurs

  • 2 Hairless Cats

  • 2 Foxes

  • 2 Peacocks

  • 4 Miniature Donkeys

  • 2 Turkeys

  • Emu

  • Deer

  • Antelope

  • 3 Dogs

  • Miniature Horse

I think that's it! (they will also be adding a baby Kangaroo next fall.) Daxon did not know where to go first. He loved all the animals and enjoyed feeding them and riding the horse. Here are a few pics from our day!!

New Bed

So this weekend we were in Stillwater for my dad's birthday. Whenever we come to Stillwater, Daxon sleeps in a Pack &Play in my old bedroom. This morning he decided to climb out of it. Now remember he has not tried to climb out of his crib at home yet, so I thought we still had a little bit of time. Boy was I wrong!! About 7:30 this morning I hear a thud and looked over toward the P&P and he had just hit the ground! He grabbed a book, opened the bedroom door, and ran down the hall yelling "Mimmi" (my mom). He is growing up so fast!!
My mom was at Wal-mart yesterday looking at toddler beds and found this Toy Story blow up mattress....JACKPOT!!!

Hats

Daxon has a love/hate relationship with hats. If I want him to wear one, then he hates it! Figures, right? He likes to wear hats when he wants to wear hats! His daddy is a hat fanatic. I am sure most of you have never seen Jeremy without a hat. I really don't understand the reasoning, but oh well. Maybe he doesn't like his hair, maybe its getting a little thin on top, or maybe its just a habit that he has had since he was little? Anyway, back to Daxon. I can tell that Jeremy wants Daxon to "like" hats, so he has about 6. Yes, 6!!! Ridiculous I know! If we see a cute one, we buy it!!!

Books

I don't think I have mentioned this before, but Daxon loves books. He currently has about 20 or 30 books in his library. He is amazed by books. It does not matter what kind of book it is, as long as he can turn pages and look at pictures! His favorites are the books that move i.e. pop-up books! Good Night Moon I think is #1 on his list. He was introduced to this book at daycare. I laugh every morning when I am driving him to daycare because when we are about 2 blocks away from Hollie's house, he starts saying mmm mmm moon. which means Good Night Moon! Yes I speak toddler!!!

Bored

Boredom. It has set in. I think the high today is 30 degrees. We are stuck in the house. I think we have watched every movie we own and then some. Daxon like to watch the same movies over and over and over! Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek3, Ice Age 1-3, Lion king, Toy Story just to name a few. He is not very happy when I try to throw a new one in the mix!

Paul Frank

Okay I do not why, but I love the Paul Frank stuff. Before Daxon was born I started seeing this clothing line at Target while browsing for baby clothes. For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, Paul Frank is a monkey. Not just any monkey. The perfect monkey! Anyway, there is a clothing line out that has the monkey head printed on everything from underwear to jackets. Everytime I go to target I buy a new Paul Frank "something" for Daxon. I can't help it, its am impulse. Hi my name is Erin and I am addicted to Paul Frank.....

This year for Christmas, Mimmi got Daxon some PF jammies! He loves them, but not as much as I do!!

Oh I almost forgot, his 2nd birthday is in Feb. and yep you guessed it, Paul Frank is the theme!!!

I'm Back!

Okay its been about 9 months since my last blog. I have been following a friend's blog that is truly amazing! She def has the gift of gab and did I mention her pics? She has a great camera and a great subject to photograph. It is her blog that got me started to begin with. I will try to do better this year on keeping up with my blog.

Anyway, Daxon is almost 2. TWO!!!! Can you believe it? I sure can't. I look back at old pics of him and always say to myself "I sure miss this age". Does this mean I have baby fever and want another one? Jeremy thinks so. I think I do want one more, I just want Daxon to be potty trained or "almost" potty trained. Because let's face it, 2 in diapers would be awfully expensive!!

I am in shock at how much Daxon is learning. He is learning so much everyday that
I can barely keep up with all new "words" he is attempting to say. He goes to an in-home daycare twice a week and he has made some little friends he talks about. Ms. Hollie has been woderful. I put Daxon in daycare for the social aspect. Since I stay home, he was never around other children. I got two awesome recommendations for Ms. Hollie so she was def our first pick!! Daxon loves Ms. Hollie (eventhough he still cries when I drop him off) so much!
