Day 2

We were off to an awesome start this morning. Daxon woke up DRY, after just one day of potty training! I thought to myself, "wow it has finally clicked." Ummm no! Probably because I wouldn't let him have anything after 7 pm last night, but either way he was dry!!!! I can tell he is getting quite ticked at me throughout this process. I know he is sick and tired of changing his underwear and listening to me say "Daxon, tell mommy when you have to pee pee." I think by about noon he was on his fourth pair of underwear! I told him we may not be friends today and sadly said "okay." lol! I have cleaned up three fairly large puddles of pee and mopped the wood floors three times already today and it is only 2:30. Here is what our day 2 consisted of:
7:30am woke up dry!!!
8:15am peed in the potty
8:45am HUGE accident
10:00am peed in the potty
10:50am accident
11:00am accident
11:20am peed in the potty
11:30am lunch
12:50pm accident
1:00pm peed in the potty
1:05pm down for a nap
3:00pm woke up dry!!!
4:00pm accident
5:40pm accident
7:00pm peed in the potty
9:30pm bedtime
now as you can see this is not going so well. The manual said day 2 could possibly be worse than day 1. it wasn't worse, but it wasn't very good. So onto new beginnings tomorrow (fingers crossed). If only he would just tell me when he had to go...........

Bye Bye Diapers

So it is now the middle of October and Daxon is 4 months away from turning 3. I think it is time to say bye bye to diapers. Before I tell you about our new adventure, let me go back to the blog I wrote in February.

We bought a small, very expensive potty chair for Daxon to "look"at in the bathroom. I knew he was nowhere near ready to potty train, but thought maybe if he saw it in the bathroom everyday he might get interested. Boy was I wrong!!! He was terrified of it! You would have thought it bit him or something! All summer long I pushed him to use it and of course it did not work. He would pee in the big potty every once in awhile after i would bribe him. All my friends said "use candy, my kid goes for that". Well if you know Daxon, then you know he does not like sweets. So i quickly thought of stickers. He loves stickers! Score it worked!!! So for the last month or so we have been peeing in the potty for stickers about once or twice a day!

Okay now I need a fool proof plan to get this kid potty trained! What will I do? I talked to several friends of toddlers and got lots of tips, but none of them were working. Was Daxon just not ready? Is Daxon slower than other kids? Is he going to be 5 and still in diapers? All legitimate questions going through my head. I needed something to work and to work well.

A few weeks ago I saw a guy I used to work with. He had his toddler with him and as I was talking to them I realized his son did not have on a diaper. I knew this kid was 5 months younger than Daxon. What was their secret? So without thinking, i blurt out, "OMG is he potty trained?" He said, "yep and it was so easy!" Easy? Yeah right! Okay tell me your secret. I assumed he would say the whole candy bit or sticker thing or peeing on cheerios, but nope he had a whole different idea. Wanna know what it is?

This magic idea is called the "3 Day Potty Train"! Yep that's right you heard me, just three days and your kid is potty trained! I asked the guy where he got this and he said his wife ordered the manual over the internet and it had a 98% success record. Sounds good to me! I told him to send it my way. I received it last week and sat down and read it. This woman, the author, is a genius! Everything she said made so much sense. She is the mother of 5 boys and they were all potty trained by 28 months old! I can do this!

For three days straight, you CANNOT leave your house. You are to start out with 30 pairs of underwear. Now i thought 30 was a little ridiculous but once again I was proven wrong. (I will elaborate on this shortly). You are suppose to put you kid in underwear and a t shirt and nothing else for three days straight. Next you throw away all the diapers in the house and let your kid help. Surprisingly Daxon thought this was fun! Next and last step, tell your kid 200 times a day "let mommy know if you have to pee pee". Sounds easy right? Just three simple steps. Here is how our day 1 went:

9am Throw all diapers away and put underwear on
